Communal Garden at HJC with special partner PEI Heart and Stroke Foundation

  • The Hughes-Jones Centre for People and Animals 271 Cornwall Road Cornwall, PE, C0A 1H4 Canada

Join us this spring at the Hughes-Jones Centre for People and Animals to plant, maintain, and harvest one large communal garden and some special raised beds (as advertised in the Cornwall News letter).

A communal garden is different from a community garden in the respect that we will all share the responsibility in planting, weeding and maintaining the garden throughout the growing months. This reduces the time committment for everyone and allows us all to share our knowledge, experience, time and eventually reap the rewards of beautiful produce for all of our hard work.

Our garden and raised beds will not be touched by pesticides and will be fertilized with the HJC horse's finest composted manure (they are on a very healthy diet!).

Heart healthy meal ideas and "how to" clinics will be hosted at HJC for example - how to stew your own tomatoes for fresh tasting pasta sauce year round. All clinics are optional to attend and FREE.

This is a FREE initiative made possible by the PEI Heart and Stroke Foundation and HJC.

Space is limited. Please register by contacting Ellen at: info@thehughesjonescentre.ca

The produce that is grown will be shared with participants and any extra produce will be given to Cornwall families in need.
