HJC Programs

We are looking for your insight into the services we provide. Please read through the program descriptions and add any constructive criticism you may have (good or bad) or any comments. Something you can do together!

Mother / Daughter Program

This program works with mothers and daughters to aid communication during difficult years. We will focus on communication between each other and the horses while learning a new skill together.

At the end of the session we will sit down together and discuss what went well, what we can improve on and what we learned. If interest exists - this could easily become father\daughter, mother\son etc.

Customized Horse Experiences

This program is for people who feel their needs are not yet met in the horse industry on P.E.I.. This program is customized to clients taste (as long as it remains within the mandates of HJC). If you are home for a short time and looking to ride in a relaxed environment - this program could be for you. If you are over 50 and looking to get into horses - this program could be for you. If you would like to get into shape before going on a riding holiday - this program could be for you.

If your son or daughter is pestering you for a horse and you want them to get a sense of the responsibility and work involved in owning a horse (risk free), this program is for you. If you are looking for a family experience - this program is for all of you. If you are looking for a consult or a non-horse horse experience - this program is for you. Basically - you ask and we will do our best to deliver!

Summer Camps

This is a day camp focussing on learning (self-esteem, self-confidence, leadership, responsibility, empathy, respect, communication, hard work, team work etc.) from horses through various aspects of stable management and horse care. We are offering this program under the belief that horses and the experiences that arise while working with horses have the potential to provide positive learning experiences for youth.

By working with small groups (no more than 5 at a time) we will be in a position to frame experiences as they arise and allow for the youth to learn from one another as well as their horses. Taking the focus away from the advancement of a rider's ability (i.e. preparing for competition) and placing it on safety and proficiency we create a unique and innovative atmosphere.

Fear Facing Program

This program is for anybody who has developed a fear of horses\horseback riding and wishes to overcome it. If you have fallen off, never been on or are just plain scared - this session is for you. This is a closed session between myself the horse and the customer. We move at the customer's pace and tailor the duration of the program to the customer's needs. We move slowly helping you to better understand your fear and work toward conquering it together.

We offer this program because we recognize that fear is individual and that individuals have different needs. We work to achieve YOUR goals whether they are touching a horse, riding one for the first time or getting back on after a bad fall. We understand that working through fear can be a personal process and we want to make you feel as safe as possible. These sessions will be 100% private.
