Summer Camp Program

Q: Who is eligible for this program?
A: Girls and boys aged 9-12 years old.

Q: What is this program?
A: This is a day camp focussing on learning (self-esteem, self-confidence, leadership, responsibility, empathy, respect, communication, hard work, team work etc.) from horses through various aspects of stable management and horse care.

Q: Where will this take place?
A: At the Hughes-Jones Centre for People & Animals (paddocks, arena, office etc.).

Q: What does the camp involve?
A: We are offering this program under the belief that horses and the experiences that arise while working with horses have the potential to provide positive learning experiences for youth. By working with small groups (no more than 4 at a time) we will be in a position to frame experiences as they arise and allow for the youth to learn from one another as well as their horses. Taking the focus away from the advancement of a rider's ability (i.e. preparing for competition) and placing it on safety and proficiency we create a unique and innovative atmosphere.

Q: When do you offer this program?
A: Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. weeks beginning July 12th, 2010 to August 23, 2010.
